About
Our Mission
To tackle the world’s biggest health problems, by creating digital technology that bridges gaps between research, practitioners, under-served communities and better health.
Welcome to SportHealthTech
This work takes a very special team. We’re research and impact driven, and we understand it takes quality research data to improve health problems at scale.
According to the World Health Organisation lifestyle diseases kill 41 million people annually, and cost over USD$67.5 billion. These diseases include: cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer, Type 2 Diabetes and obesity.
Program managers who lead community sport-based health improvement and rehabilitation programs, use different measures to assess program success. Some use attendance and patient self-report. However, many fail to consistently measure the symptoms, risk factors and patient functionality in the ways that clinicians and governments evaluate health.
Programs appear to help participants improve their health, but no one knows how well they are working compared with standard care. It is not possible to determine which elements of the program are having the most impact, or to compare interventions, and learn which practices should be expanded.
Program managers (most without medical backgrounds) are often unaware of the best measures to use, and need a resource to help them make the best use of the facilities they have, to plan recovery programs and track participant data.
There are no ‘Best Practices’ in community disease management, because no one is tracking the patient intervention/recovery data, doing the analysis and working them out. It is also impossible to determine what the return is on the funding invested in most programs.
As few programs ever make it to academic or mainstream media publication, vital opportunities are being missed by researchers, governments and the health sector to understand what works to reduce disease, and the health implications for the whole community. We can bridge the gap and offer solutions.
